SUBSTITUTION Lesson

The video below allows you to review how to solve by substitution. Make sure to pay attention to how to ISOLATE a variable so you can SUBSTITUTE a value back into an equation.

SUBSTITUTION solving

In order to solve by substitution, it is sometimes easier to use the box set up. Creating a t-chart can make this easier. When looking at the image, see that each box tells you exactly where to put each value in order to solve the system of equations using substitution. Remember, it is extremely important that you ISOLATE the variable!.
